Summer fun continues at His House!
This year, many of our children are participating in the Share Miami summer program. The kids have enjoyed fun and educational field trips, just recently they visited the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Museum and Billie Swamp Safari in the Big Cypress Indian Reservation of the Seminole Tribe of Florida where they were joined by children of the Seminole tribe for one morning; and a visit to each other’s community on the days following the day trips.
The project provided them with the opportunity to build friendships with other children from different backgrounds and acquire the skills to work collaboratively to benefit our society. Activities included; identifying stereotypes, discovering Seminole culture, building friendships and acquiring skills for solidarity. As a team the kids created team cheers, dances and songs; as well as sharing stories of difficult times in which a friend had helped them and offering support to each other on current challenges. After the day trips the children worked on identifying people’s needs and how to help them.
