On Friday, Nov. 2nd, Niki Poulakis-Prieto and Marilu Del Toro hosted an awareness fundraiser "Fall for His House" at the Conrad Miami. Close to 50 of their friends gathered to benefit the cause of children in crisis where they learned about the great needs of children in our community's foster care and how they could become involved.
"I believe His House is such a special place," said Poulakis-Prieto, "being a child and having to go through some of the tragic circumstances that these children go through is unimaginable and heart-breaking. She continued, "His House is there for these children, and to be able to help His House and the children in some way is a privilege and means a lot to me."
Guests enjoyed a beautiful cocktail reception and silent auction while admiring the city view on the waters of the Miami Bay. His House Founder and Executive Director, Jean Caceres-Gonzalez, shared a few words and the guests were moved as they realized how they could impact many lives in their own backyard.
"We were able to bring the His House message to a new group of people to continue raising awareness and support for His House," said Del Toro. She added, "I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to serve and do my small part in helping to care for some of the most vulnerable children in our community."
This event successfully raised funds that will go to help maintain services and programs. His House appreciates all of the efforts of partners like Niki and Marilu as we greatly depend on the community's help.
