MIAMI—October 10, 2012—His House Children’s Home (HHCH), sponsored by Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International, held their 9th Annual Charity “Imagine” Gala on Saturday, October 6th at The JW Marriott Marquis Miami. Hosted by WSVN Channel 7 News Anchor, Christine Cruz, over 450 guests celebrated a wonderful evening to benefit the lives of South Florida’s children in crisis.
Among those who attended were Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rene Garcia, Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Facundo & Elizabeth Bacardi and Patricia & Mark Rufeh.
During the cocktail hour, participants had the opportunity to bid on over 100 silent auction items, which included Montica fine jewelry, vacation getaways, autographed sports memorabilia, fine dining, fine art and more. A live auction by professional auctioneer, Michael Guyer, led four winners to go home with an African safari trip, Grammy Award tickets, autographed Heat Dream Team basketballs and a prestigious Azamara Club Cruise.
The audience was greatly moved when the children of His House performed “We Are The World” and after walked into the crown to personally thank guests for attending with hugs. Special guest Sandra Meneces, a former foster child, wrote and recited an impactful poem describing her experience with abuse throughout her childhood. She explained how His House restored the hope in her life and shared her future plans to help children who are going through her past difficult circumstances.
“The annual gala is the most significant fundraiser of the year for His House and all proceeds will benefit children from newborn to 17 residing at His House,” said Development Director Iris Marrero. She continued, “We greatly depend on community partnership to maintain our programs and services.”
