For most, psychological responses to years of abuse is the primary factor directly impacting scholastic performance. Behavior problems – both aggression and withdrawing – which may be rooted in placement trauma, keeps them from focusing on school. The vast majority of children entering the protection of state foster care report educational deficits reflected in higher raters of grade retention; lower scores on standardized tests; and higher absenteeism, tardiness, truancy and dropout rates.

Without this personalized approach, at-risk children often do not graduate and enter the cycle of unemployment, potentially engaging in criminal and anti-social behavior. The barriers to and educational success in school faced by children in foster care can be overcome with this new opportunity.

This program is unique in that we are combining the success of two non-profit organizations in order to assist at-risk children in a residential setting. The education provided will be personalized for each child, where they will be a part of an established and successful private school in addition to the opportunity to become active in the various athletic programs and extracurricular activities.
