Deck the Halls 2011 was spectacular! Our volunteers enthusiastically brought the Christmas spirit to His House! The opening band, Vikki Romero and Son Cache Band got everyone ready with famous Christmas carols. The volunteers took group photographs and were off to unload their cars and decorate their assigned homes! Each group adorned the home with Christmas décor baked Christmas cookies and enjoyed a Christmas meal together. By the end of the night the volunteers and the homes grew to have a great bond and friendship. They all came together at the chapel to pray and worship. During this time, children and houseparent’s shared their gratitude for the love poured out to them and the home. There was not one dry eye in the crowd as everyone said goodbye and thank you. Many of the children at His House have never had a Christmas tree or a decorated home for the holidays and because of these volunteers they did.
What the volunteers had to say...
"I have always enjoyed helping others a lot. Having the chance to do it at His House was a true blessing. My company and I sponsored House #33. What a wonderful group of kids. Funny, talkative, grateful, humble, respectful to say the least. And seeing their faces as we decorated their house and how happy they were with our visit made me wanna keep going back to do more. They had a wonderful time and we made sure that they did. Playing football and riding skateboarding was fun. Also sitting at the table with them to share a meal was priceless. I definitely want to do it again. I promised them I would go back before Christmas. Can't wait. God bless these children always!"
