With a group of over 80 volunteers, our new friends helped with many projects. This included painting the His House Academy in preparation for the new school year, sorting clothing in Shoppe 5:17 (the His House boutique/thrift store), and organizing supplies throughout our house. After hours of dedication, volunteers joined our children at the pavilion where they surprised our kids with a Barbeque and ice cream social, topping off it with an afternoon filled with fun games and activities!
Both the kids and the volunteers participated in three legged races, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, and arts & crafts. Cesar Romero, a volunteer from Bank United shared, “It has been a wonderful experience being able to share and interact with the kids today. I truly feel that the people here today show the kids that hope does exist, you just go to keep your faith.”
The highlight of the day was when over 200 people, His kids, staff and Bank United friends included, sang happy birthday to twin boys living at His House. What a great surprise to our boys!
“My experience today at His house has been both wonderful and incredibly rewarding. Watching children in need receive the love they deserve has been truly heartwarming,” expressed Sergio Rubio, a volunteer from Bank United. At the end of the day we not only achieved a beautifully painted Academy, but we also created many wonderful memories with new friends.
