Teen sisters adopted at last!

Jackelynn and Julia Serrano met a wonderful Christian family when His House took them on a spring break trip to Williamsburg, VA in 2008. They had an instant connection with the family and after multiple foster home placements, the girls moved to Virginia to be fostered by this family in August of 2009.  His House saw them make great progress emotionally and academically.  In June of 2010, the girls were officially adopted and extremely excited.

“At first I was really scared because I thought as soon as I did something wrong thing, I would be sent back, but I wasn’t.  I’m really glad we’re now adopted, I would advise other kids in foster care not to be scared and try families.”

-Julia Serrano, 14 yrs. old

I had to get used to change and have an open heart.  It feels really good to be adopted.  Now I feel wanted and not alone and I have someone to look up to.”

-Jackelynn Serrano, 15 yrs. old
