| His House Children's Home 20th Year Anniversary Celebration
On a
beautiful Saturday afternoon on May 16, 2009, His House Childrens Home
hosted its15th Annual Charity Banquet in celebration of 20 years of service to
the community. All His House friends and staff joined together for a delicious
meal and an exciting program on His House grounds. It felt like family, said
foster parent Daily Martinez. Everyone was together, the parents and kids. It
really just warms my heart when I see this.

Children filled the stage as
several of His Kids proudly displayed their special talents and stories for an
supportive audience. Among them was Dominic, who shared a rap song he
wrote about his life as a foster child and Katiana, who shared her testimony on
how she overcame her struggles as a foster child and teenage mom. Music
also filled the air as the very first His Kids ensemble performed worship songs
that had the crowd clapping and singing along. His
House houseparent Joan Peters explained, It is all about empowering the
children, letting them know they are all special and have something to give.
When they realize this, they realize theyre important.
Jean received a wonderful
surprise when Mayor Carlos Alvarezs daughter, Brigette Alvarez, and Chief of
Staff, Denis Morales, presented her with a proclamation on behalf of Miami-Dade County. The crowd also had the pleasure
of hearing from world renowned keynote speaker Dr. Robert Petterson, who
delivered a moving speech about his own story as a former foster child. His
amazing testimony serves as a display of the final product- what our children
could achieve if only they have a loving home and unconditional support.
Thanks to our hard working staff
and our generous friends in the community, the banquet was a tremendous
success, and His House is enthusiastically looking forward to celebrating
another 20 years of service!
